Baptist Children's Homes' Stars Are Shining!

Baptist Children’s Homes (BCH) and staff members have recently been recognized for successes – BCH’s “culture of excellence” is showing!

Baptist Children’s Homes has been reaccredited by the Council on Accreditation until June 30, 2019. The international, independent, nonprofit, human services accreditation organization reviewed hundreds of self-study documents and representatives spent four days on site conducting peer reviews. Almost every staff member was involved in reaccreditation. The leadership team consists of: Wendy Weatherman, Linda Morgan, Nancy McNeill, and Bond Kiser.

BCH president Michael C. Blackwell was named the 2015 Baptist Heritage Award recipient by members of Trinity Baptist Church in Raleigh. The commemorative plaque received by Blackwell reads in part: “Thank you, Michael, for giving your voice and your life for the ‘least of these.’” The church also made a contribution of $2,500 to BCH in his honor.

Kathy Locklear, Odum Home’s residential campus manager, accepted the University of North Carolina at Pembroke’s (UNCP) “Community Partner of the Year Award” on behalf of BCH at a recent awards luncheon. UNCP students regularly volunteer at the Pembroke residential facility.

The North Carolina Association on Aging awarded their Leadership Excellence Award to NCBAM director Sandy Gregory at their annual meeting in Wilmington. The award honors recipients for the quality of leadership and organizational management they provide their organizations.

NCBAM’s Carol Layton received two awards from the Baptist Communicators

Association’s annual awards competition. Layton tied for first place in the feature writing category and placed second place in the promotional and advertising copy category.
