Annual Hope in Style highlights children

Hope in Style children walked the runway

A new pair of shoes and a new outfit that makes one feel pretty or handsome is sure to put a smile on a child’s face, as those attending the fourth annual Hope in Style event on Saturday, August 8 can attest. Thirty of Baptist Children’s Homes’ children were all smiles as they took to the runway for a back-to-school fashion show sponsored by Charlotte-based department store Belk.

The friend-building event held at the Greensboro Country Club was hosted by WGHP Fox 8 personality Emily Bryd and Hope in Style’s honorary chair and renowned artist William Mangum. The doors opened to a silent auction at 9:00 a.m. A brunch was served and entertainment was provided by Fred Astaire Professional Dancers.

BCH’s Karen Slate coordinates the event with a committee of volunteers. “The committee put their hearts into making it a very special day for the children,” she said. “It was fun and highlighted the powerful and life-changing work that the Lord is doing through BCH.”

Hope in Style sold out for the fourth time. The silent auction had 182 donated items and garnered more than $16,000. The event is expected to raise more than $65,000.
