Trustees welcome new members
Trustees were introduced to Baptist Children’s Home’ (BCH) theme for 2018 – “Many ministries beating with one heart” – during its semi-annual meeting in Thomasville on January 16. The theme was launched to coincide with BCH president/CEO Michael C. Blackwell’s 35th anniversary.
“In my years as president, we have continually grown and adjusted to meet the ever changing needs of those we serve,” Blackwell said. “We are Christ-centered with more than a dozen ministries reaching the tiniest baby to the abused child to the frail aging. We serve all in one accord – ‘beating with one heart.’”
Trustee chair Sybil Stewart presided as the Board heard positive reports from the ministry’s auditor and investment counselors.
Trustees welcomed 11 members to the board. Eight of the 11 are serving as a BCH trustee for the first time. The three returning trustees are: Pam Annas, Hudson; Roy Howell, Apex; and Sandy Saunders, Fayetteville. First time trustees are: Wayne Adams, Jr., Carthage; Denise Critcher, Deep Gap; Dana Dixon, Garner; Nancy Hall, Apex; Matt Hollifield, Davidson; Jim Jacumin, Connelly Springs; Kenneth Robinette, Marston; and Nathan Sanders, Wilmington.
BCH’s 2017 Accomplishments Report was presented to Trustees. The highlights include the 203 decisions made for Christ last year and the 9,393 served through the new Tucker Greater Vision Outreach Center.
The next full Board meeting is slated for 10:00 a.m. on September 18 in Thomasville.
