Blackwell presents Legacy Awards to five staff members
As part of Family Gathering: Special Edition held June 19, five staff members were presented the Michael C. Blackwell Legacy Award. The inaugural Legacy Award was presented in 2008 by the Board of Trustees to Dr. Blackwell on his 25th anniversary and then named in his honor. It was designated that the award be presented in conjunction with Family Gatherings.
The first staff members receiving the award in 2010 were Linda Morgan and Richard Poteet. Five years later Paul Daley and Brenda Gray were the recipients. These awards were presented as part of special Family Gathering commemorating Dr. Blackwell’s 35th anniversary as president. Subsequent awards will continue every five years beginning with 2020.
The award recognizes staff members who exhibit an exemplary legacy built over time through passion, commitment and dedication to BCH’s mission Sharing hope…changing lives as modeled by Dr. Blackwell during his tenure.
This year’s recipients are: Sam Barefoot, Senior Vice-President; Brian Baltzell, Kennedy Home Director; Jennie Counts, Director of Presidential Projects; Nancy McNeill, Vice President, Human Resources and Compliance; and Adam Saunders, Senior Child Care Worker – Broyhill Home.
“These individuals represent the best qualities prevalent among our staff,” Dr. Blackwell said. “I commend them.”
