BCH Trustees welcome positive reports

Baptist Children’s Homes’ (BCH) Trustees gathered for their semi-annual meeting in Thomasville on January 15. The meeting was held at the new Greater Vision Outreach Center located on the Mills Home campus. Trustee chair Abe Elmore began by sharing testimony about the importance of the ministry.

“Of all the things I have done, there is nothing that compares to serving with Baptist Children’s Homes,” Elmore said.

The 86-year-old Dunn resident first served as a Trustee in 1976 and has served nine four-year terms. He and his wife Jackie have been a part of BCH for 48 years.

“Abe is the only Trustee serving today that was on the Board when I first came in 1983,” BCH president/CEO Michael C. Blackwell said. “He and Jackie are great friends and supporters.”

Trustees viewed a video of the 2018 BCH Baptist State Convention One Heartpresentation and heard positive audit and investment reports.

Trustees welcomed nine new members. They are: Bobby Boyd, Conover; John Lee, Nashville; Cameron McGill, White Lake; Lyndell Pate, Rockwell; Marian Phillips, Siler City; Gary Stanley, Dobson; Eric Vernon, Sanford; Sterling Wall, Lexington; and Jay Westmoreland, Fort Mill.

BCH’s 2018 Accomplishments Report was presented. Numbers included children served – 979; families served – 795; and total days of care – 117,013. North Carolina Baptist Aging Ministry numbers included 7,896 clients served and 14,611 Call Center calls. Greater Vision Outreach Center provided 48,314 meals and distributed more than 14,000 pieces of clothing. BCH recorded 133 Decisions for Christ.
